Whether it be plain chapstick or colorful lipstick, I love wearing something on my lips. Just like shoes or jewelry, the right lip product can turn a simple outfit into something classy. This week, I tried Maybelline’s Lifter Gloss and Vinyl Ink, and here is what I think:

In the color Petal, this lipgloss has the perfect balance between color, sparkle, and shine. It is smooth to apply and feels light on my lips. I usually don’t wear lipgloss because I’m always overly conscious of it on my lips, but this one felt light and soft. It also smells great, which is a definite plus. My stray hairs did tend to stick to my lips, but not enough to be a real bother. I carried this lip gloss with me all day and reapplied twice, once after eating, and the second a few hours into the day. The color doesn’t fully fade as the glossiness does, so it’s not necessary to reapply, but it does help keep the look fresh and lasting.

In the color Royal , this has become my favorite lipstick. It was very flattering on my skin tone and accentuated the shape of my lips. I’m probably biased because I’ve always preferred liquid lipsticks, but this one is definitely worth it. The color survived breakfast, lunch, coffee, and dinner: only fading after nearly twelve hours and a late-night, post-concert taco. Like the Lifter Gloss, the Vinyl Ink was smooth to apply. Though, it is important to have a steady hand when applying, since it is difficult to clean up if you mess up. It will lightly stain cups, but don’t fret. It barely affects how it looks on your lips if it does at all.

All in all, these were great products to try and I’m personally very happy with the results. They add another degree of elegance and femininity to my looks, and they make me feel gorgeous. And that’s the point, isn’t it? To feel as beautiful as you look.
